After 20 years, upon returning in DTM race series, BMW achieved great succes winning three titles: Canadian driver Bruno Spengler won the drivers’ title, BMW Team Schnitzer finished in top spot in the team standings, and BMW claimed the manufacturers’ honours. To celebrate this brilliant comeback, BMW M GmbH unveils BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition.
The M3 DTM Champion Edition is a regular M3 coated to look like Spengler’s racing car and comes exclusively in a Frozen Black metallic paint and BMW’s M stripes running across the carbon roof and trunk lid. Other details include dark chrome trim and matte black wheels. It also features the Competition package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic and the M Driver’s Package. The equipment line includes A Professional navigation system, heated seats and Park Distance Control.
Inside the car, you’ll find the door sill strips replicate Spengler’s helmet design, and his signature a carbon fiber interior trim strip and the car’s serial number. The steering wheel is covered in Alcantara, handbrake lever embroidered with M Power lettering, while the rest of the interior gets black Novillo leather that gives fine contrast to Palladium Silver trim.
Spengler’s DTM car has a 4.0-liter V8, which produces 480 horsepower. However, M3 DTM Champion Edition buyers will have to make due with the stock M3’s 414 hp.
That’s not all, for the price of €99,000 ($128,000), lucky buyers will have the chance to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course under the watchful eye of Bruno Spengler. BMW announced that will be only 54 copies of BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition – which will be available in various international market, but many doubt it won’t come to the U.S.
