We have the honor to see one of the most powerful version of the 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG, before its official presentation at the Detroit Motor Show next week. Redesigned E63 AMG will look significantly more aggressive than its predecessor, thanks to its brand new front fascia with new headlamps, redesigned grille and bumper with massive air ducts, alongside a central splitter that reportedly improves the air flow underneath the body. The rear bumper has also been redesigned, featuring quad trapezoidal tailpipes and an upgraded diffuser.
The 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo engine lies under the car’s bonnet, and delivers 557 HP (410 kW) at 5,500 RPM and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 RPM and 5,250 RPM. The E63 AMG is able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds. It gets even better, as the sedan 4-wheel drive 4MATIC version manages that in a whopping 3.7 seconds, while the wagon does it in 3.8 seconds.
The E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model has also been announced, for both body styles. This model features a rear differential lock and a bit more powerful version of the same 5.5-liter V8, which delivers 585 HP (430 kW) at 5,500 RPM and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 RPM and 5,000 RPM. E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model sedan version is reportedly able to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from naught in 3.6 seconds and maximum speed of all the models is the usual electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph).
AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission is available in 4 different modes – S (Sport), S+ (Sport Plus), M (Manual) and C (Controlled Efficiency). The Mercedes is also bringing forward an optional ceramic brake system, with ventilated and perforated 360 mm brake disks with silver calipers for the regular AMG model and red-painted calipers for the S-model. The rear wheel drive versions will be put on sale during April, followed by the 4MATIC and S-Model later, during June.
