Girard-Perregaux’s 1966 Collection got one more equal stunning member. Brand’s 1966 Annual Calendar with Equation of Time (EoT), introduced in 2009, now has been increased 2 millimeters and upped with their Minute Repeater. The result is a new, superb and highly triple complicated piece of its 1966 series, with also complicated title Girard-Perregaux 1966 Minute Repeater, Annual Calendar & Equation Of Time Watch.
The silvered sunburst dial is the background of the time, calendar and EOT indications. As on the lesser GP 1966 Annual Calendar & EOT, the large date was displayed between 1 and 2 o’clock, the equation of time scale between 4 and 5 o’clock, the month aperture at 7 o’clock, and the running seconds register at 9 o’clock. The month is displayed in a window opposite if the date. This ingenious construction only requires a single adjustment of the date per year, in February, which is easily carried out through the watch’s crown.
There are also applied gold markers markers for all 12 hours (only 3/6/9/12 in lesser models) and the aperture for the month is slightly smaller too. Finally, the hand for the equation of time is shorter and is anchored further from the edge of the dial, which is actually a huge improvement over its predecessor. In total this masterpiece comprises of 419 individual parts!
This stunning model is powered by a Swiss manual-wind Girard-Perregaux in-house caliber E09-0003 movement with 48 jewels, 21,600 vph. The timepiece boasts of a power reserve of 100 hours and it is water resistant up to 30 meters. A brown alligator strap with an 18kt rose gold ardillon buckle adds the finishing touches to this special edition creation.
