Inspired by the Myth of Original Sin, which has been used in art since caveman first drew on a wall, Kilian Hennessey walked at the Garden of Eden, to explore decadence, sin, betrayal, and the never-ending tension between good and evil, and to create this amazing trio of perfume, appropriate dubbed In the Garden of Good and Evil debuted last fall.
In the City of Sin is a fantastic spicy perfume, intended to open this collection, the city where everything is possible and the roads to get there are seductively arranged to pull you further in. The rich notes of spices and fruits are exotic and plush, symbolizing the allure of The City of Sin, where there are no boundaries. The fresh cardamom dominates but the pink pepper and cumin add some rough edges. Then you move into a rapid-fire sequence of notes, plum and rose come first, incense and cedar next, followed at the end by patchouli and musk.
Forbidden Games explores temptation of ripe fruit there for the taking…but you’re not supposed to. Opening with lush fruits (apple and peach), those that tempt you to come closer, then lead you into the floral piece (jasmine, rose and geranium) of this perfume until you have succumbed to the embrace of vanilla, honey and opoponax.
Good Girl Gone Bad is aimed at a woman that is a certain way – fullly realized, sensuous, in love with life, not afraid to explore her inner Bad Girl. The centerpiece of this perfume is floral note of jasmine (good girl), surrounded with tuberose, narcissus, osmanthus, and rose(bad girls). At the end, the woods, vetiver and patchouli try their best to grab “good girl” from the clutches of hedonism, but far too late – it’s already shown how bad these good girls can get.
