The Montblanc unveiled, at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva, the new Montblanc TimeWalker line of watches. It presented three different models: The Montblanc TimeWalker World-Time Hemispheres, the Montblanc TimeWalker Voyager UTC and the Montblanc TimeWalker TwinFly Chronograph.
The Montblanc TimeWalker Voyager UTC
TimeWalker Voyager UTC is synchronized with the International Atomic Time, which is supposed to be more accurate than GMT. The watch include a 42 mm stainless steel case with a satin finished titanium bezel, the silver opaline dial with central hour indicators and a UTC indicator set with an orange tip. The 24-hour scale that is used to indicate base time is showcased at the outer flange or rehaut. White and black tone on the outer flange indicates day and night. The 42-hours reserve is powered by an in-house automatic winding MB 4810/405 calibre. The watch will be available in three versions that are paired with a leather strap.
The Montblanc TimeWalker World Time Hemispheres
TimeWalker World Time Hemispheres, basically, is a set of two watches, one for the Northern Hemisphere and one for the Southern. Time is displayed for the major cities in each hemisphere. When you rotate the city ring via the crown, the center hemisphre disc rotates and lets you know daytime-nighttime for the sought city. Needless to say, in the Northern Hemisphere watch, the central disc rotates clockwise and vice versa for the Southern Hemisphere watch. I like the clever addition of an engraved (opposite) hemisphere for reference on the caseback. Like the Voyager UTC, the World Time Hemispheres also include 42mm steel cases with brushed titanium bezels with either a titanium and steel bracelet or a textile strap. Price goes from $4900 on strap and $5700 on bracelet.
The Montblanc TimeWalker TwinFly Chronograph
TimeWalker TwinFly Chronograph in unmistakable Montblanc TimeWalker design combines a chronograph function, which is very popular with men, and the indication of the time in a second zone. The 24-hour subdial at the “12” can be adjusted to indicate the hour in any desired second time zone, although most users will probably choose to set it to show the time at their permanent residence. Its scale is calibrated for 24 hours, so it simultaneously provides day/night information, which is further emphasized by a fine relief: sunrays symbolize daytime hours and a celestial dome signifies the hours of the night.
The new Montblanc TimeWalker watches will be available in September 2013.
