Just a few months after the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show and the Azimut Benetti Group is set for its second show of the season in the United States, one of the Italian company’s most important markets. There will be 20 Azimut Benetti boats at the 2013 Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) from 14 February, including four models brand new to the American market built by Azimut Yachts and Benetti: Azimut 54, Azimut 55S, Magellano 43 Fly and the spectacular Benetti Classic Supreme 132. Not only will there be an admirable range of boats on show, but also a wonderful surprise for American visitors, in particular for anyone who enjoys brilliant performance in a relaxed and sociable setting.
Azimut 54, heir to the best-selling 53, would appear to be the most obvious example of how it is possible to replicate a previous model’s huge success. In the 54, the layout of the main bridge has been redesigned to allow a more practical use of the lounge and dinette. The lower deck is still one of the best in its category, thanks to its excellent arrangement of three cabins and two bathrooms with an unbeatable ceiling height. The owner’s cabin is a genuine suite with large side windows that offer breathtaking views, also making it ideal for day use . A VIP cabin at the bow and a double cabin round off the sleeping area with a bathroom exclusively for the master cabin and one that opens onto the hallway and the VIP cabin. Electronic equipment has been improved both for sailing and entertainment purposes. The 14 m2 flybridge is one of the largest in its category, and the platform can take a weight of 500 kg for top-of-the‐range jet skis or large tenders. There is also a stern sailor’s cabin with a bed.
Azimut Magellano 43 is the new mid-size Italian long range yacht. Preceded by the innovative scope of the 74, and the commercial success of the 50, the new 43 is the newest addition to the Magellano Collection. Within 13 meters is a concentration of all of the features of the Magellano Collection: smooth navigation in all conditions, excellent cruising range in a modern and Italian take on the traditional trawler. Destined not only for the high seas: there are two versions – Flybridge and Hard Top, to meet owners varying needs, the new Magellano 43 is also particularly suited for inland waters navigation.
Azimut 55S have the triple pod drive installation equipped with supercharged and turbocharged engines for maximum performance. Smaller in dimension and lower in weight when compared to traditional shaft-drive configurations. Engines located at the aft of the vessel, thereby freeing up large amounts of space now available to enhance onboard liveability. Duo forward-facing and counter-rotating propellers, eliminate vibration, maximise thrust and neutralise directional deviation. Forward facing props maximise efficiency from undisturbed waters compared to turbulence generated by fixed shaft underwater gear. The stern garage door is a single integral structure combining the swim platform. When opened, the garage door exposes the 2 metre wide teak laid swim platform which may be submerged and disappears beneath the stern. With an additional movement the garage door may be further inclined to launch and recover the jet tender. In order to reduce weight and improve performance, innovative hi-tech construction materials such as carbon-fibre are utlised, strengthening floor panels and otherstructural elements. The overall result is that structural bulkheads of the master cabin, engine room, garage and the whole overall superstructure boast greater solidity and strength and ensuring high-level performance. The garage structure is entirely moulded out of carbon-fibre and offers optimal storage for a Williams 285 Jet Tender. The development of a specialised tender hauling and launching system offers easy-of-use and safety to the end user.
The Benetti Classic Supreme 132 is part of the Italian builder’s Class line of megayachts, with offerings from 93 to 145 feet LOA. All are constructed of fiberglass, and all bear naval architecture by longtime Benetti collaborator Stefano Righini. So, too, do they all feature interior design by François Zuretti of Zuretti Design, though owners work with the designer to personalize the look. Hull number one of the Benetti Classic Supreme 132 series has subdued, neutral tones, mostly through the use of natural-stained oak and wenge. These, plus leathers and more, adorn the combination saloon-dining area, the main-deck master suite, and the four guest staterooms below decks. Other layout highlights of the first Benetti Classic Supreme 132 are an upper-deck gym, full-height glass to starboard of the dining area, a hot tub on the flying bridge, and a handful of alfresco seating and dining areas spread over the various decks. The Benetti Classic Supreme 132 should see a top speed of 15½ knots, powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M72 diesels.
About other models that will be presented at the fair, we will write soon.
