American Top 40 host and Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, Casey Kasem and his wife Jean Kasem listed his Los Angeles estate for sale. They purchased the property in 1989 for a mere $1.725 million and now they listed house in Holmby Hills for a staggering $42 million.
Casey bought the property for Jean when she was pregnant with their daughter, they’d been living in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and Jean has spent the intervening decades continually tweaking and renovating.
The home includes, a motor court fountain “built around an ornate piece of the Brooklyn Bridge,” a hair salon, a design studio, a library, a bathroom with a fireplace, a par-three golf course designed by Bobby Trent Jones, and a heart-shaped pool with two bathhouses. The James Dolena designed main house. The 12,000 sq ft estate includes a main house with 7-bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms.
The gardens are equally generously done up with the citrus trees donning the boundary walls, apart from the strawberry and grape trees which occupy the corners of the backyard. Due to the manicured and landscaped lawn, one could even try some outdoor miniature golf on the property. [John Aaroe Group]
