The watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre at the annual exhibition SIHH 2013 has introduced a new model Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph Cermet, which was developed specifically for divers. Last year during the SIHH 2012 event at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Beverly Hills Boutique in Los Angeles, California some of us had a chance for a sneak peek of a prototype piece, a JLC Deep Sea Chronograph. Now, Swiss finest watch and clock manufacturer is offering N°1 Prototype of this stunning watch at its fifth online auction, with all proceeds go to UNESCO for the preservation of marine World Heritage sites.
Aesthetically, JLC Deep Sea Chronograph Cermet is inspired by the famous 1959 Memovox Deep Sea, the first automatic diving watch equipped with an alarm that had required all the ingenuity of watchmakers Jaeger-LeCoultre. The chronograph operating indicator is inspired by the Jaeger-LeCoultre 1930s “chronoflight” onboard instrument.
A diver needs to be able to see at a glance whether the disc shows that the chronograph is ready for use (white), in operation (white/red) or stopped (red). Its high-tech case in reinforced cermet, a material consisting of aluminium reinforced with particles of ceramic and then covered with a protective coating of ceramic, has incomparable properties of lightness, resistance and stability.
