Airstream Trailer Company was founded in 1936 and went on to become one of America’s most successful travel-trailer companies. Last year their came out with “insane” concept – Land Yacht travel trailer which now become reality. Designed in partnership with Mauro Micheli, the long-time designer for Riva Yachts, this new 28-foot travel trailer retains Airstream’s signature “silver bullet” exterior, but with all luxury and modern interior amenities.
This amazing vehicle is spacious enough to accommodate up to five people and features a bedroom in the front, a bathroom amidships and a rear social space, which includes a galley that can be hidden when not in use. Its powered bed lift reveals access to hidden storage. Other interesting details include a boat-deck-style wood flooring along with a smattering of Italian fabrics and Corian counter surfaces, all illuminated by subtle LED elements. Also, the unit features three power awnings, with remote control.
“Every Airstream looks basically the same from the outside,” said Bob Wheeler, the marque’s president and CEO. “We’re not your grandfather’s Airstream from the ’50s.”
According to Wheeler, there are already orders on the books for exports as far away as China. “We believe the Land Yacht provides the brand with a chance to reach beyond the traditional RV channels, and attract a buyer that may have other uses in mind, like a studio, office, or lounge,” he said.
Land Yacht production will start in July and pricing starts at $140,000.
