£990,000 ($1.5 million) for a holiday package – this could be world’s most expensive vacation…. And, it really is. Offered by London-based luxury agency Hurlingham Travel and launched by VeryFirstTo, this exclusive package is for two people traveling together to visit 962 sites around the world, all recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites. Chinese student and an Italian businessman are this two lucky and wealthy travelers. They will split the bill for this exceptional two-year, luxury holiday visiting more than 150 countries, staying in the most luxurious hotels and flying business class.
“When we launched it, we didn’t know if it would sell. Not all of our products do,” says company founder Marcel Knobil, who launched Veryfirsto.com in November 2012, seemingly as a one-stop shop for those with so much money they need someone else to come up with ludicrous ways to spend it. Or, as they call it, “a haven for early adopters”.
The first traveler, unnamed Chinese man who is currently studying for a PhD, has signed up, but will be unable to begin the tour until he has completed his academic commitments next year. An Italian industrialist is also on the verge of booking, according to Mr Knobil. His itinerary is currently being finalised, and he is likely to be the first to actually begin the long journey.
These two lucky guys will theoretically see 157 countries, but actually step on Mexico’s ancient city of Monte Alban; the sensational Taj Mahal in India; Petra the symbol of Jordan; Cambodia’s exotic Angkor temples; Spain’s Moorish Alhambra; the Great Pyramids in Egypt; China’s enchanting Forbidden City and Peru’s Machu Picchu sitting 8.000 ft above sea level and many others sights.
