Last weekend the Bonhams auction sale in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, UK (as part of Aston Martin Centenary Sale) among others, sold the unique Aston Martin DB4GT (nicknamed “The Jet”), which was designed by the Italian design house Bertone.
The coupe is a complete one off, the last DB4GT off the production line, and the only one boasting coachwork by eminent Italian design house.
Aston Martin DB4GT Bertone had changed hands for £3.2495 million (about $4.9 million), the highest amount ever paid at auction for an Aston Martin.
The DB4 model was introduced in 1958, and its GT version appeared in September in 1959, while the DB4GT Bertone was promoted in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show.
It was produced a total of 75 pieces of model DB4GT, of which 19 are modified by Zagato and one that is the work of Bertone, which is now sold for this incredible sum.
