Few weeks ago Rémy Martin revealed the spectacular Louis XIII Rare Cask 42,6 Cognac, discovered by the gifted Cellar Master, Pierrette Trichet. And, now, the first decanter of this cognac has been sold at auction for whopping $58,000 in U.K. on May 22. The auction’s proceeds went to the non-profit organization “Chain of Hope,” a children’s charity known to provide children from poor countries with vital heart surgery.
Louis XIII Brand Ambassador Anne-Laure Pressat said after the auction, “We are very pleased that so many important guests joined us to share this special moment with us. Auctioning off the first Rare Cask 42,6 in the UK and being able to support Chain of Hope provides a wonderful start to an exciting journey for us.”
Rare Cask 42,6 still can be purchased since there will be 738 decanters worldwide, each hand engraved with an individual number and it will cost an impressive $23,000 per bottle. Also, it will be available by the glass in a couple of highly exclusive locations, such as The Arts Club and 45 Park Lane (Dorchester Collection), and can be purchased at fine wine & spirit boutiques such as Harrods or Hedonism Wines from September 2013.
As we mentioned every exquisite Louis XIII Rare Cask is made out of precious black Baccarat crystal – Rare Cask’s signature, created by 20 expert craftsmen, who have to execute the most challenging colour to which the art of crystal can aspire. A rose gold decor dresses the neck of the decanter, crowned by a black crystal stopper.
