Pride of Baltimore is an exclusive presentation of artistic disciplines by hand enamelling master dials, Donze Cardans. Ulysse Nardin relationship with famous manufacturer of enamelled dial is from the eighties when Rolf Schnyder bought Ulysse Nardin, together, unique enameled clock products for over 25 years. In order to continue his quest for independence while demonstrating a passion for art enamelling, Ulysse Nardin hired Donze Cardans in 2012, creating again another friendly cooperation.
Pride of Baltimore is painted with beautiful vivid detail, a result that can only be achieved through superior skill enamelling. In the process, opaque, transparent or translucent colors and tones were obtained from the proportions in which the elements are mixed in order to get amalgams, whose composition is often secret. Notably, each segment is divided part of the gold wire that prevents liquid enamel to move to other areas. Over 500 mm of fine gold wire is needed to create the partition, which is a job that requires a minimun of 50 hours and 26 processes to create each split dial.
