Auctions America will offer during the Auburn Fall auction from August 29-September 1, 2013, a rare example of 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 MK II Deluxe Roadster. Donald Healey’s four-cylinder Healey Hundred was a sensation at the 1952 London Motor Show, impressing Austin’s Leonard Lord, who promptly put it into production as the Austin-Healey. Austin-Healey cars were produced from 1952 until 1972 when the 20-year agreement between Healey and Austin came to an end.
This car was built to North American specifications and dispatched from the factory on June 16, 1961 for personal export to the United States. It has Chassis no. HBN7L14164 and Engine no. 29E-RU-H/635, and comes with 2,912-cc, 132-hp overhead-valve inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and hydraulic front disc, rear drum brakes.
