For the fourth time in row, Louis Vuitton will participate to the famous Only Watch charity auction. For this year’s event, the brand is offering a unique Tambour Spin time Regatta watch, specially adapted for this purpose. Designed by LV creative team in colaboration with young Paul Pettavino, son of the President of the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophies, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and it is research towards a cure for this disease which proceeds of the event go to support.
Every detail has been chosen or designed by Paul such as change from the usual orange colour into a blue and red colour watch, as well as the gold boat on the watch which is hand engraved and covered with enamel. This unique piece comes in the painted Louis Vuitton Damier canvas trunk. A message signed by the young boy is also stuffed inside.
In 2010, Louis Vuitton offered an innovative and playful way of reading the time with the Tambour Spin Time collection. Its secret: the hours are revealed by rotating cubes. Last year, these are replaced with five red Spin Time cubes. By activating regatta mode with the pusher at eight o’clock, the mode window at noon turns red and features the word “regatta”. At the same time, five red cubes appear along the periphery of the dial, and when you start the chronograph by pressing the pusher at two o’clock, you begin this countdown where, each minute, one cube will turn from red back to blue to signal that an additional minute has elapsed.
This Only Watch version will go on sale in September along with its damier Ebene canvas with a hand painted unique Louis Vuitton logo surrounded by white ropes.
