Very few people in the world who does not know who Harry Potter, but 15 years ago almost no one had heard of the young wizard. His story began 15 years ago, in England, where is published the first part of this incredibly successful literary series. The story, written by Joanne K. Rowling almost never released, as the author did not have any work behind, so publishers were skeptical. The book “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was eventually published in a print run of 500 copies and almost immediately became an absolute hit.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was released in the United States in September 1998 and has been sold more than 150 million copies worldwide. To celebrate the 15th anniversary, on August 27, 2013, Scholastic will re-release all seven books with new covers illustrated by New York Times illustrator, Kazu Kibuishi. In each of the new cover illustrations, Kibuishi has captured a moment from that particular book. Preview of the covers for the first six books are ready and final seventh cover will be released in the next few weeks.
