“Love Me Do” is the Beatles‘ first single, backed by “P.S. I Love You” and released on 5 October 1962. Now, half century later, a label called Mischief Music is issuing a limited-edition red heart-shaped twelve-inch vinyl of single, to commemorate this historic music event. The B-side of the single featured the track “P.S. I Love You.” Both tracks were included on the band’s 1963 album Please Please Me.
When the single was originally released in the United Kingdom, it peaked at number seventeen; in 1982 it was re-promoted (not re-issued, retaining the same catalogue number) and reached number four. In the United States the single was a number one hit in 1964. In 2012, the song became Public Domain in Europe.
Heart-shaped red vinyl single will be limited to only 500 copies and will be released on July 26, 2013, priced at £16.31 ($25).
