Few watchmakers require a book of operating instructions to accompany their timepieces. But the Ulysse Nardin dynasty is no ordinary watchmaker. Since 1846, Nardin and his descendents have produced award winning timepieces. These coveted watches are produced in extremely limited quantities. Ulysse Nardin‘s technical achievements are legendary. Among its many watches stands out new Ulysse Nardin Freak Phantom which is made in Limited Edition of just 99 pieces.
The Freak has no traditional dial, crown or hands. The rotation of the movement is synchronized to indicate time and the whole movement rotates once per hour. It uses silicium in its patented hairspring and throughout the majority of its escapement. The watch is wound manually by turning the back of the case. The 45mm case is crafted in 18kt rose gold and the price will be around $100,000.
