To celebrate its 20th anniversary, famous Chicago punk rock bar Delilah’s has teamed up with a Compass Box Whisky Co. to create a whisky designed to be drunk as a shot with beer. Developed jointly by John Glaser, master whisky blender and founder of Compass Box Whisky, and Delilah’s owner Mike Miller, it is an expression of their shared vision that great whisky should be enjoyed by all.
Delilah’s is a combination of single malt and single grain whiskies aged in a mix of experimental new American oak barrels and rejuvenated American oak hogsheads which give the whisky a delicious sweetness. John and Mikes aim was to create a unique style of whisky that would accompany a beer. Compass Box described the 40% abv result as having “an intense richness yet is subtly complex with honeyed and seductive fruity notes and hints of cereals and vanilla cream.”
Only 6,324 bottles of this Punk Rock Scotch Whisky will be available in select markets worldwide, 4,800 of them in the US.
The bar is located on N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Delilah’s prides itself on its extensive whiskey offering, over 350 varieties, cheap beer and punk rock atmosphere.
