BMW i3 has been presented, and now the serial i8, at a cost of $167,000, will be presented at Frankfurt Motor Show. Family of BMW‘s new sub-brand “i” will in fact have a few more members. The new BMW i8 is Sporty 2 2 Plug-in Hybrid, which will dispose of a combined power output of 266 kW/362HP and 570 Nm of torque (a combination of electric motors with 96 kW/131HP and 250 Nm, the lithium-ion battery (5 kWh) and 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 170 kW/231HP and 320 Nm). It should be noted that the gasoline engine drives the rear, and electric motor front-wheel drive.
BMW i8 that weighs 1490 kg, accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds and have top speed of 155mph. Electric mode at 66mph, will have an average fuel consumption of 2.5 l/60miles and total autonomy of up to 310miles. The wheels are 20 inches, tires 195/50 R20 and 215/45 R20, and air resistance coefficient is 0.26. Buyers instead of standard wheels can get wheels of lightweight carbon fiber, and there are rear-view camera, Head-Up Display, Collision Warning with pedestrian recognition, Park Distance Control, and much more. During the 2014 we can expected convertible version that was already announced last year.
