Greatest White Diamond Ever to Appear at Auction will be offered at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale, scheduled for October 7th. Stunning 118.28ct, D Colour, Flawless, Type IIA Magnificent Oval diamond is estimated to achieve HK$220-280 million (US$28-35 million), in excess of the current highest price ever paid for any white diamond at auction. This stone, pure and perfect, is one of the largest: it had a rough weight of 299 carats and was discovered in 2011 from the deep mines in Southern Africa. It is the largest D colour Flawless diamond ever to appear at auction, as well as the largest oval shaped, D colour Flawless or Internally Flawless diamond ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
