The cabaret singer, pianist, and Great American Songbook archivist Michael Feinstein has put his stunning NYC Townhouse Combo on sale for a whopping $17,9 million. Feinstein and his spouse, Terrence Flannery bought the first of the two houses, 141 East 63rd Street, in 2004 for just over $3 million, and later, they bought the neighboring house (143 East 63rd Street) which went on the market the following year, splashing out an additional $3.825 million plus the cost of renovation.
“It had high ceilings and grand rooms but not a sense of massiveness, and we thought, ‘This is plenty for us,’ ” Feinstein explained. Marvelous 18-room house just east of Lexington Avenue opposite the Barbizon 63, features twin staircases, seven baths, two powder rooms, two kitchens, eight fireplaces and a massive walk-in closet.
Additionaly, there are a fourth-floor master suite accessible by private staircase, a home gym on the fifth floor, and a 25-foot-wide backyard with ivy-covered brick walls and two outdoor pagodas, one furnished as a living room and the other as a dining area. The wall-sized Hirschfeld mural in the foyer will not be included in the sale. If you’re interesting for buying, you should know that the annual taxes are $57,380.
