British brand Lagonda, which after the Second World War, bought Aston Martin, is to many completely unknown. Those who know something about it, its knowledge can be summed up in one word, handbrake. The Lagonda was the first vehicle in which was handbrake ever built. Fans of classic cars, a little older ones, probably remember the Aston Martin Lagonda from the last century, while the younger generation remember Aston Martin Lagonda Vignale concept which was presented in Geneva 18 years ago.
Head of Aston Martin, Ulrich Bez, said in a recent interview that he is confident that the Lagonda brand will again come on automotive scene. Although he did not mention when it will happen, expressed his firm belief that the new Lagonda will occur in the near future. He added also that the name can be used for any type of car out Aston Martin‘s family and acknowledged that the SUV has the best chance for it. The British manufacturer has revived Lagonda in 2009 in the form of the concept in Motor Show in Geneva. It was an SUV based on the Mercedes -Benz GL -Class and was powered by V12 engine. It should be noted that currently, a new SUV planning top manufacturers like Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley and Rolls -Royce, so it is not surprising that Aston Martin wants piece of the pie.
Ulrich Bez said that the comfort and convenience of their models will be still different because Aston Martin does not work ‘ practical ‘ vehicles. He added that the Lagonda SUV will have to reflect the luxury, performance and craftsmanship typical for Aston Martin. If the rumors are true about the prices, these luxury crossover will be more expensive than the best-equipped Land Rover’s SUV or Porsche.
