300 rare collectibles including unique Kiddieland carousel and rare intact 1880’s Soda Fountain and Pharmacy interior will be offered at Donley Auctions on Saturday, November 16, following a preview party on Friday, November 15, 2013. Both events take place at 6 p.m. at Donley’s Wild West Town on 8512 South Union Road in Union, Illinois. The carousel (“PTC 72”) that once ran at Kiddieland Amusement Park in Melrose Park was manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, which was the largest producer of carousels and roller coasters in the world. It was the last carousel that the company would make.
The 1890’s Mt. Washington Soda Fountain and Pharmacy interior from Haverhill Massachusetts is a significant piece of Americana history. The complete interior boasts all of the original displays, walls, drawer pulls and artisan leaded glass fixtures.
Other featured items include an 1880’s Hershell-Spillman Steam Carousel – one of the first carousels ever made, a 1917 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 1907 two-cylinder Horseless Carriage Automobile, a 1953 Packard Caribbean Convertible (one of only 30 known of its kind), a 1932 Buick coupe, a Steinway reproducing baby grand piano, leaded glass windows from the respected Bogenrief Studios, and antique restored pedal cars. Among 300 items, visitors will find arcade equipment, nickelodeons, antique phonographs, music boxes, juke boxes, and paper and tin advertising.
