The Dalmore’s latest expression from the 174-year-old distillery is 25-Year-Old Malt. This newest member of its Dalmore Principle Collection of Scotch whiskies will be the oldest in the Dalmore range, alongside the 12, 15, 18-year-olds, as well as the King Alexander III and Cigar Malt Reserve bottles. The Whyte & Mackay-owned distillery will release 3,000 bottles of The Dalmore 25 Year Old annually, with a recommended retail price of £600 ($970).
The new limited edition is described as combining “festive aromas” of fig, marzipan, vanilla and citrus, which matured in American white oak barrels and finished in Palomino Fino Sherry casks, first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, and Tawny Port pipes from Portugal.
“The Dalmore 25 is matured in casks that have previously housed a very special grape which creates a sweeter style of sherry,” said Dalmore master distiller Richard Paterson. “As a result, the cask has gifted a wonderful a palate of orange peel, chocolate truffles and spiced gingerbread”.
