Tommy Hilfiger’s appetite increased! – The 62-year-old fashion tycoon now wants $80 Million for his penthouse making it one of the most exclusive condo listings in Manhattan. In 2008, fashion mogul and his wife asked $50 million for the condo atop New York’s Plaza Hotel, and in a mean time, the price rose by 60 percent.
The highlight of the duplex is one of the Plaza’s domed turret-towers, an iconic architectural detail located off the dining room that has a custom-painted Eloise mural by Hillary Knight, the beloved book’s original illustrator, along with sweeping terraces overlooking Central Park and Fifth Avenue. The apartment in the golden corner of the Central Park stretches over 6,000 square feet and features five bedrooms, four baths and sweeping terraces.
He bought this 18th and 19th floor property in 2008 as two units that he combined into one, and invested more $17 million into renovation that took more than three years to design the apartment in keeping with the Plaza’s rich history with those red carpets, the brass, the wood panelling, the mirrors. Unfortunatelly, his artworks, including Warhols aren’t for sale. But, some of his furniture and furnishings including pieces once owned by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor could be included in the sale under the right terms.
According to CNBC, Hilfiger wants to sell it because he’s spending more time in Greenwich, Conn., where he is completing a three-year renovation of a 22-acre estate.
Hilfiger is listing his property with Dolly Lenz Real Estate.
