When it premiered at last year’s EICMA Milan show, the Vespa 946 was billed as a modern luxury concept, based on Enrico Piaggio’s revolutionary Vespa MP6.The public was completely fascinated with it and Vespa was persuaded to put this extravagant vehicle into full production. The production of the 3,600 Vespa 946 scooters in the 2013 Collection “Ricordo Italiano” would close in November. After the European launch, this one of the most radical scooters to be ever put to production will soon make its debut on the US market.
Traditionally divided into “small body” (the current LX and S series) and “large body” (represented by the GTS and GTV) Vespa now sees the birth of an entirely new vehicle which, while making reference to the classical lines, breaks with the constant evolution of the design with a sort of fascinating “back to the future”. Its design is immaculately handcrafted and constructed, with, floating saddle which is hinged on a cast aluminium support, full LED headlamp and taillight, LCD screen and all.
Vespa 946 will be available in Montebianco (white) and Nero Lucido (black) and will arrive in U.S. and Canadian dealerships next month, with the price of $9,946.
