Chopard has been the official timekeeper and sponsor of the Mille Miglia for 25 years. To celebrate this anniversary, Chopard has partnered with Zagato, the legend of Italian automobile design, to design a special Mille Miglia limited edition chronograph. While Chopard takes care of the model’s “performance”, “engine “and “frame”, Zagato helps create its “bodywork”, “interior” and “upholstery”.
With its 42.5 mm steel case using DLC coating treatment, chosen for its extreme scratch resistance, the watch comes in two variations: one all-black and the other fitted with a rose gold bezel featuring a red insert bearing the 24-hour dual-time graduation. This is one of the most stylized Mille Miglia designs to appear in the series, with Zagato’s “Z” logo printed on the dial and red accents representing the signature colors of both Zagato and Mille Miglia. The straps on both variations are made of barenia leather, and feature a central groove, echoing the architecture of Zagato’s signature “double bubble” roof.
The movement is a COSC-certified self-winding chronograph, with functions that include hours and minutes, smalls seconds at 9 o’clock, central dual-time display, chronograph hour and minute totalizers and a date window. The caseback of the watch is marked with the “1000 Miglia” arrow logo, “Special ZAGATO Edition,” and “Limited 500”.
The Mille Miglia Zagato is issued in a 500-piece limited series for the black DLC-coated steel version and the same number for the two-tone 18-karat rose gold version.
