In February 2012, basketball legend listed his Highland Park estate for $29 million, then dropped the price to $21 million so he decided to put it on auction. And now, stunning 56,000 sq ft mansion north of Chicago failed to sell on ConciergeAuctions.com. Not a single bidder met the $13m reserve price during Monday’s auction which required a $250,000 down-payment just to participate. The auction had originally been scheduled for November 22, 2013 but was pulled and rescheduled for December 16.
According to some opinions, Jordan’s house isn’t selling because it’s overpriced for the neighborhood. Higher prices are generally reserved for properties close to downtown Chicago, and for properties right on Lake Michigan.
Jordan’s compound is set on 7.39 immaculately landscaped acres, and features 9 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and, as expected from this basketball legend, a regulation-size, NBA-quality basketball court. It also includes a guest wing with three en suite bedrooms and a separate entrance.
