Rare 6-Litre Macallan will be highlight at Sotheby’s Hong Kong’s Finest and Rarest Wines and The Macallan auction on January 18, 2014. Estimated at $260,000-$500,000, this exceptional “M” decanter is the largest ever made by Lalique, weighing in at nearly 25 pounds. It will be the first and only time that Imperiale “M” Decanter by The Macallan that is being offered to the public. The whisky is the creation of Bob Dalgarno who has used his years of experience and drawn from a small number of carefully selected Spanish oak sherry casks, dating from the early 1940s to the early 1990s, from nearly 200,000 casks at the Macallan distillery to create this unique interpretation.
This upcoming sale features almost 700 lots estimated at $2 – $3,2 million. Among other highlights at the auction is A Magnificent Collection of World Class Wines which includes many of the greatest wines ever made from the finest Bordeaux and Burgundies through the best Rhône, Italian, Port, California and Australian wines. The collection includemature Bordeaux and Burgundy, with vintages from 1865 to 1993. The selection of red Burgundy on offer is highlighted by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, featuring the iconic 1978, 1985 and 1990 vintages of Romanée-Conti; as well as rare full cases of Chambertin 1990, Chambertin Clos de Bèze 1988 and Gevrey Chambertin, Clos St Jacques 1988 from Domaine Armand Rousseau.
Also noteworthy is a series of ex-cellar consignments coming directly from Veuve Clicquot, which provides a golden opportunity for wine connoisseurs to acquire mature Champagne with perfect provenance and impeccable condition.
