When you look at this masks, you won’t believe that they’re made of from single pieces of paper. But, that’s exactly what artist Joel Cooper is doing. He creates this three-dimensional wonderful mask just using one single, uncut piece of paper in the origami technique. No cutting and no gluing. The papers used are hand-painted, dyed, or stained before and after folding and all are treated with polyurethane, acrylic or shellac to make them durable and ready for display.
The sculptural patterns are each original and unique. The masks are so real, the faces look like frozen in time (or in this case in paper).
His remarkable three-dimensional constructions which showcase faces, complex geometries and abstract formations are available to buy on his Etsy page, and prices range from $50 to $300.
