BMW has created for the model i8 a new kind of ” key ” with the display, through which the user receives information relevant to driving the car with hybrid drive. Since the manufacturers have introduced a lock without a conventional key, and starting the engine by using the button, its design is significantly changed. The BMW realized that this gadgets can serve to convey some information to the travel computer. Thus, the engineers increased the dimensions of the key and installed display on it.
Since that the BMW i8 is the car with two drive systems, gasoline and electric, a driver via a display can find out how much fuel is left in the tank, how much are batteries charged and how many miles can pass before you run out of gas, or electricity. The company has not said whether this new type of key is part of the standard supply of cars whose price is over $138,000, or customers will be able to obtain the key only in a supplemental option.
