There is a hotel in Marseilles, France, who is committed to set itself apart from other accommodation. This is achieved by ‘stupefying’ their guests. The hotel is called Au Vieux Panier, which means ‘busket’ (named after a 17th-century bistro where the Marseillais descended to eat, drink, and satisfy their other appetites), and has a very special interior design, which can not be copied. The rooms are literally works of art and they all have different themes based on design and artistic work of artists around the world. Each of the five rooms, in its own way, succeeded in creating an amazing, distinct, and audacious atmosphere. Every year the rooms are replaced by new installations from another swathe of designers.
The one room we want to emphasize is the most shocking of all, designed by graffiti artist named Tilt. It is called “Panic Room.”
One half of the room is pure white, while the other is covered with shocking and colorful graffiti.
Looking into it almost causes pain in the eyes. We can not imagine waking up in it, or going to sleep…
Tilt and his two friends have spent hours and hours covering one side of the room to their artistic style.
All the while trying that line which separates two sides remains sharp and clear.
The difference between the two sides of the room is amazing. If you want to stay in one of these rooms, you can easily book them over the internet.
Prices range from €105 ($145) to €190 ($262) per person, per night, breakfast included, depending on room type. Still, you will have to travel to France.
