In association with Bacardi Global Travel Retail, Delhi Duty Free has launched Dewar’s Legacy Collection 1893. India’s largest duty free will be be the first duty free in the country to sell the limited edition blended Scotch whisky. This special edition commemorates the first Royal Warrant awarded to Dewar’s 120 years ago. At Delhi airport duty free, in Terminal 2, the decanter is displayed on a plinth specially designed to mirror the line and to showcase its rarity and design. The finest hand-blown crystal decanter with handcrafted silverware made by Scottish craftsmen, contains blend from 20 rare and long-aged whiskies, many of which were used by Dewar’s founder, John Dewar sourced from recently discovered stock lists. The lists were part of John Dewar’s legacy to his sons and provided the recipe for the blended Scotch whisky which received the Royal Warrant in 1893. Once blended, the whisky was returned to the cask for a year of double-ageing, a Dewar’s tradition, allowing the blend to evolve.
The design of the bottle is inspired by the dirk, the Scottish ceremonial dagger. The dirk is decorated with a thistle motif with detailing in 22-carat gold and as its centrepiece nine sapphires inspired by the Stuart Sapphire, owned by many Scottish kings before it became part of Queen Victoria’s Imperial State Crown.
Housed in a burr walnut and gold metal box, which displays some of the many prestigious awards won by Dewar’s, this Legacy Collection 1893 is limited to only 1,000 individually numbered bottles.
