Easter Island is one of the most mysterious destinations on Earth, well known for its iconic stone moai statues. TE PITO O TE HENUA or MATA KI TE RANGI, translated as the Navel of the World, or Land’s End was the name that the ancient Rapa Nui gave to the island. Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa enjoys a privileged location on this wonderful place overlooking a stunning bay and the Pacific Ocean beyond. Unlike other high-end hotels on Easter Island, this new hotel is just a few minutes walk outside the island’s main village of Hangaroa.
A modern yet eco-friendly version of the Orongo ceremonial village, this hotel has 75 rooms and suites. The rooms whose exterior resembles ancient island caves, are fashioned from volcanic rock, cypress woods, and natural local clay. Inside, modern styling and luxurious appointments await, including oversize tubs, super-comfortable beds, and unbeatable views. Guests can stay in one of 6 MA’UNGA suites from 74 to 78 mts2, with a curved double height ceiling, guest bathroom and large open room. The design of the reception area and waiting room is based on the ancestral “boat house”, a construction which has the form of an upside down boat, as can be seen in the rocky ruins of the island.
The main restaurant in the hotel is POERAVA, with specacular see view, which holds up to 150 people. It serves a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and seafood made from locally sourced ingredients inside a round dining area.
