New Porsche Design P’9982 by BlackBerry is a smartphone for the wealthy business person who wants to flaunt at board meetings. This is the latest member of the Porsche Design luxury brand’s range of modern luxury smartphones. Uniquely designed and expertly crafted, the P’9982 features a satin finished frame forged from the finest quality stainless steel, complemented by a hand-wrapped genuine Italian leather back door. The back door of the limited edition model is hand-wrapped in genuine Crocodile leather.
BlackBerry notes that the P’9982 runs a customized version of the BlackBerry 10.2 OS. It is essentially the same as the BlackBerry Z10 that launched in February. Much like the BlackBerry Z10, the P’9982 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It sports a 4.2-inch display with a resolution of 768×1280 pixels. The only technical difference between the P’9982 and the Z10 is that the P’9982 comes with 64GB with microSD card.
The P’9982 is one of the most expensive phones on the market (Vertu notwithstanding), selling for nearly $2,400. The smartphone will be globally available from Porsche Design stores, select carriers and retailers starting November 21. BlackBerry has also announced a limited Crocodile edition of the Porsche Design P’9982, which will be available beginning early December with a limited run of just 500 devices.
