Living in “the Crescent House,” a contemporary home by noted architectural designer Wallace Cunningham, is “kind of an adventure,” said owner Esther Fischer. And, now for the first time this modernist beachfront mansion in San Diego is on sale for $11,75 million. Nestled on 100 feet of ocean frontage in Encinitas, a seaside village of San Diego County, the Crescent House was designed in 2000 for Ms. Fischer and her late husband, San Diego real-estate developer Arnold “Bud” Fischer. The modern 7,500-square-foot home is made of concrete, steel and glass. It features four bedrooms, and four full and two half bathrooms.
Among the home’s more distinctive features is a wraparound walkway from the front gate to the main house. When visitors enter the home, the first thing they see is an infinity pool shaped like a crescent moon (hence the home’s name), which delighted an Architectural Digest writer in 2010. The pool wraps around a circular terrace, which is accessed by a curved ramp.
The home also has terraces off the living room, office and master bedroom. There is an elevator, a two-car garage and a gym.
The Fischers moved into the house in 2003. Mr. Fischer died last year, and his wife said she is selling because the property is now “a lot of house for me.” Still, “it makes me very sad to leave.”
