The most expensive cat in the world celebrates 40th birthday. To mark this special occasion, Hello Kitty received special treatment by Japanese pearl giant Mikimoto. He designed collaboration jewelry using the finest quality pearls. The collection consists of almost 20 pieces and Hello Kitty herself and her iconic bow take central stage of course. The most extravagant piece which unfortunatelly isn’t on sale is tiara made of diamonds, pearls and other jewels with a figurine of Hello Kitty on its center.
She is entirely made of diamonds: an oval-cut diamond for her face, claws for the whiskers and a pair of trilliant-cut diamonds for ears. Strawberry lockets on each side of the tiara open up to reveal portraits of Kitty and her rarely seen feline partner, Daniel. Her worth is around 100 million yen ($976,000).
Just few of the designs is available for order and purchase, such as an elegant pearl necklace with a pair of earrings, hair clasp adorned with Akoya pearls, rubies, diamonds and onyx, the ring with a diamond studded bow with a pearl center to name just a few.
Mikimoto & Hello Kitty jewelry collection was revealed in the Mikimoto’s flagship shop at Ginza shopping district in Tokyo and for the first time at the select shop “Colette” in Paris. Currently it is being rolled out in other stores worldwide.
