Judging by the title, this is a really “grande” watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre privately previewed Master Grande Tradition à Quantième Perpétuel 8 Jours SQ few weeks ago at SIHH 2014 but now we have more information to share with you. The new model is inspired by JLC grand complication pocket watch made in 1928. With the famed Caliber 876SQ movement, it demonstrates all brand’s mastery of Rare Crafts such as skeletonising, engraving and enamelling.
This watch’s skeleton movement is cut away and decorated entirely by hand. The in-house made Caliber 876SQ has 260 components (37 of which are jewels) and at only 6.6mm thick manages to display the time, day, date, month, year, moonphase, day/night, and the power reserve.
In order to enhance the dial, the watch’s rim is decorated with guilloché work and covered with translucent blue enamel. A truly exceptional timepiece, it is also the only perpetual calendar watch with an 8-day power reserve. Its perpetual calendar functions are mechanically programmed until the year 2100, and are all activated by a single date-corrector.
