CroisiEurope, the biggest river cruise operator in Europe, announced christening of its newest member of Rhine fleet, scheduled for March 28, 2014, in Strasbourg, France. The 295-foot long MS Lafayette will offer cruises on the Rhine between Basel and Amsterdam – through some of the most stunning regions of France, Switzerland, Germany and Holland. The line will also offer exclusive excursions to Mainau Island, Mainz, the Black Forest and the Titisee, Strasbourg and Aix-la-Chapelle or a journey to Aachen, the picturesque and westernmost city in Germany.
The four-star MS Lafayette will meet the high standards of the 21st century cruise market in terms of both technology and comfort. The ship can accommodate up to 84 passengers in 42 rooms that will come equipped with a wide-screen TV, safe, hair dryer, mini bar, individual air-conditioning and heating controls.
Public rooms aboard the MS Lafayette will be similar to those found on CroisiEurope’s most recent vessels, with a modern dining room, an attractive lounge, and an open sun deck well suited to taking in the sights and sounds of the Rhine. The large restaurant will serve sumptuous buffet breakfasts, three-courses lunches and delicious dinners offering a mix of superb French cuisine and regional dishes that reflect the region through which the ship is currently sailing.
Guests will have the benefit of complimentary wine and beer both at lunch and at dinner as well as an open bar during the whole cruise (excluding special wines, champagne and fine brandies.)
The vessel is named after General Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, the French military hero whose support of the American Army during the Revolutionary War helped ensure victory.
