World’s most expensive Easter egg has been unveiled. Named “Mirage,” the egg is worth £5 million ($8,4 million), and according to UK’s Daily Mail it resembles a cross between a Faberge egg and a Damien Hirst skull. This unique gem comes studded with over 1,000 dazzling diamonds. The shell is encrusted with 100 diamonds in a unique cut and said to worth $2.5 million. When you open jewel-encrusted egg, it reveals an ornate globe which was hand-crafted in 18 carat gold. Within the globe, a rock crystal dove with a gold beak and gems for eyes, is perched on a lavish gold olive branch.
The dove and olive branch were hand carved and were included as symbols of world peace. Designer Manfred Wild has created the egg, with work carried out by elite craftsmen across three continents. It took a whopping three years to make.
Vashi Dominguez, jeweller to the stars, has access to the private owner of this masterpiece, a mystery collector. The owner of the egg is unwilling to sell, but experts say a deal could be done for the right price.
“Mirage is, quite simply, one of the finest jewels ever created”, said Dominguez.
