This is obviously good days for coloured diamonds. Just one day after a 100-carat Flawless Yellow Diamond sold for $16.25 million at Sotheby’s auction one more gem set an enviable result at auction. This time it’s world’s largest Flawless Vivid Blue Diamond which reached $23.79 million at Christie’s Geneva. As we already wrote, dubbed ‘The Blue’ because of its magnificent colour, a shimmering pear-shaped rock the colour of cobalt weighs 3.22 carats.
Just six months earlier, Christie’s Geneva sold the world’s largest orange diamond, a 14.82-carat gem called “The Orange”, which went for $35.5 million despite its $17-20 million price tag.
