Descending from an ancient family of Greek silversmiths, Sotirio Bulgari, the company’s founder, manufactured precious silver objects. During the late 19th century, Sotirio moved to Italy and in 1884 opened his first shop in Via Sistina, Rome. Now, 130 years later the Italian jewellery brand is bigger than ever before having a lot of celebrities fans from Elizabeth Taylor to Princess Grace of Monaco. To celbrate this 130th anniversary, Bulgari launched a new ring in its iconic B.zero1 collection.
New ring, a tribute to Rome that inspired Bulgari over the decades features four bands of warm, bronze ceramic surrounded by soft pink gold with the word Roma engraved on the edges. Its circular form brings to mind the circularity of the most representative Roman architectural masterpieces, from the imposing circular grandeur of the ancient Colosseum, Castel Sant’Angelo to the Pantheon.
Bulgari continues to strive to enrich people’s lives with beauty. As Nicola Bulgari (Sotirio’s grandson) says, “You cannot simply live on past glories: that’s foolish. To be a success, you have to combine the worlds of the past, present and future. That is the challenge, and there are many horizons.”
Bulgari B.zero1 Roma ring is priced at €1,300 ($1,780). The company is expected to unveil additional special editions over the coming weeks, including jewelry, watches, accessories and perfumes.
