RM Auctions held a fantastic event on Saturday night, achieving total of €41,355,430 and with an incredible 93 percent of all lots sold. Some of the finest classic and modern supercars of all time, boats, motorcycles and memorabilia found new buyers which came from 37 different countries. Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Auctions, Europe, says: “It’s not often I’m lost for words, but I am simply stunned by what we have achieved tonight in Monaco. From a results perspective, this has been our biggest ever European sale and the 93 percent sell through figure is testament to the diversity and depth of quality that we had on offer. The atmosphere and energy was incredible right through to the final lot and it’s a particular delight that we have attracted so many enthusiastic new bidders from all around the world.”
The top lot was a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C with coachwork by Scaglietti, one of just 12 examples ever built. Described as “perhaps the finest, most original example of its kind”, the car brought a final price of €5,712,000 making it the most expensive fixed-head Ferrari 275 ever sold at auction.
More notable new world records were set by a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Cabriolet Series I which sold for €4,704,000, and a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS, which realized €2,128,000.
The top-selling lots also included a 1967 Ferrari Dino 206 S Spider which sold for €2,072,000; a 1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 Daytona whish brought €1,260,000; a 1958 Lister-Jaguar ‘Knobbly’ Prototype which realized €1,176,000; a 1966 Brabham-Repco BT20 Formula One which sold for €1,092,000; and a 1956 Porsche 356 A Carrera 1500 GS Speedster which brought €840,000.
