When tell you Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino, you don’t have idea what I’m talking about. Well, that’s world’s most expensive Starbucks drink ever purchased from the famous coffee chain. A guy named Andrew Chifari entered his local Starbucks in Dallas, Texas, armed with a 128-ounce glass, his Starbucks Gold member loyalty card and his aim to beat the previous world record for the most expensive Starbucks drink ever. He was very succesful, since the extras in his milkshake included a mocha drizzle, hazelnut drizzle, caramel drizzle, protein powder… and those whopping 60 shots of espresso. That would have cost an astounding $54.75.
But for Gold-card holding Andrew, it was free, since he’s a “Gold” member of Starbucks’ loyalty program, which snags him one free drink for every dozen he buys. And, unlike the previous world-record-holder, this concoction was actually still drinkable. For Andrew, that was really the key. He wanted to create something that was both drinkable and expensive. “The $47.30 guy put in two bananas, strawberry, matcha powder, pumpkin spice, and lots of other things that probably don’t go well together and definitely don’t go well with 40 shots of espresso,” Andrew told Consumerist in an e-mail. “They help raise the price, so I can’t fault him for the strategy, but I didn’t want to go that route.”
“I gotta say, it was delicious,” Andrew wrote, adding that he finished off an impressive third of it, and then continued to consume it little by little.
