The boyhood home of notorious serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer has been listed on sale for $295,000. The Bath Township Ohio home is where Dahmer killed the first of his 17 victims. It was originally listed at $329,000. “About 50 percent of the people I talk to about the home are immediately disinterested because of the history,” the real estate agent, Richard Lubinski, told WEWS-TV. “But half the people don’t care. The house didn’t kill anybody. There’s nothing going on here. It’s not haunted. It’s just a house.”
The 2,000-square-foot home on West Bath Road in Bath Township was built in 1952 and offers three bedrooms and three bathrooms and a new kitchen on a large 1.55-acre lot. A year after the home was built it was featured in the Akron Beacon Journal praising the modern architecture.
Since 1982, the house has changed owners five times. Present owner Chris Butler bought the house in 2005, and insists he was drawn to the wooded lot, and commented, “The fact that it was Jeffrey Dahmer’s house was not an attraction. I am not a ghoul. I am not interested in the supernatural.”
Now, he stated, “If you can get past that little problem, you’ll have a wonderful place to live.”
The Associated Press says, “Dahmer and his parents moved into the house in 1968 when he was 8 years old. Ten years later, he committed his first murder there, killing a hitchhiker he had brought home and then burying the remains in the woods.” Dahmer moved out of state in 1982 and killed 16 people before being caught in 1991.
“This is not a museum,” said Lubinski. It will only be shown to serious buyers.
