Beats by Dre temaed up with Snarkitecture, a collaborative art/design studio to create a special, limited-edition pair of Beats headphones. So, the world’s most famous headphone has been completely redesigned and reimagined. It is now pure matte white and accompanied by the signature pillow. “The idea is to start with their existing product, something people are very familiar with, and transform it and alter it to something new and unexpected,” says Alex Mustonen of Snarkitecture.
“So we imagined the headphones, their signature glossy black and red branding, and we stripped all of that back, simplifying the object to its core essence.” And it’s not as simple as blanking out a stock pair of Beats, either: “For one of our simplest-looking projects, it was probably our most challenging,” according to Omar Johnson of Beats. “The contrast between metal, plastic, rubber, leather—all those things carry different colors different ways.”
New Beats x Snarkitecture is lighter, sexier, stronger, and more comfortable, with precision sound, Adaptive Noise Canceling, a 20-hour rechargeable battery, and RemoteTalk. It has all the energy and excitement you expect from Beats, plus a powerful, reengineered sound.
Priced at $600, the arty new headset will be available on the Beats website from June 9th.
