Tokyo-based designer Satsuki Ohata has created a new type of unusual shoes and the only necessary was to dip his fingers in … “fondue”. He made shoes by dipping his foot into the liquid and created the mold which perfectly match the shape of foot. Japanese designer called his invention “Fondue Slipper” because the texture of liquid is similar to cheese fondue. It’s about polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in which he put his feet until the mold is completely hardened. As the temperature was heated to 200 degrees, Satsuki used a mold in the shape of the foot in order to avoid burns.
When shoes hardens you can wear them both inside and outside. It can also be used as slipper by folding the heel, or you can wear it without folding the heel if you want to run, and can be easily washed in the sink.
He is currently developing a kit which allows Fondue Slipper to make at home. Soon this new kit will be complete and you will be able to make your own slippers that fits your foot perfectly.
The Fondue Slippers come in a variety of colours and can also be customised with permanent marker pens.
