Historic property in Sausalito, California once owned by tycoon William Randolph Hearst where he originally planned to build Hearst Castle has been listed on sale for $4,25 million. This is the first time in 33 years the estate has been on the market. Hearst was fascinated by Sausalito and with the property with absolutely stunning view of the San Francisco Bay, so he purchased it to create a secluded waterside domain. But he never did build his castle there.
Listed by Coldwell Banker Real Estate’s Lois Scheinberg, the property includes boundaries that extend from Josephine to Bridgeway, and captures 180-degree unobstructed views of Sausalito and the Bay Area. There is a 125-year old house on the property, but it will be demolished for the buyer’s new three-story, sun-drenched home designed by renowned architect Andrew Skurman. There’s the plan for that project. Home includes elevator, 2-car garage plus 2-car parking deck.
