Samsung has teamed up with Italian bicycle designer Giovanni Pelizzoli to create a the world’s first smart bicycle that you can control with your phone. The Smart Bike prototype has been built to keep you safe and sound. And like any good connected anything does, it tracks your data via your smartphone. Through the phone, a user could control the bike’s smart features, which include four Arduino laser projectors that project a bike lane on the street around you if one doesn’t exist, which lets other motorists know of your presence.
The lasers are automatically toggled on/off depending on the light conditions. There is also a rear-facing camera which can give you a look behind you without having to actually look back. The aluminum body is designed to absorb shocks.
Samsung’s Smart Bike is essentially a computer you can ride. It comes with its own battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, digital camera, and laser projectors all packed inside.
This is just a concept for now, since it isn’t clear whether Samsung plans on taking this unit and going into full-scale production.
